Tinubu Slams the Brakes! President Suspends Airport Cashless Policy After Nigerians Miss Flights Nationwide

Airport Chaos - Passengers Stranded! Tinubu Halts Airport Cashless System After Massive Complaints

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate suspension of the Go Cashless policy across all federal airports in Nigeria following widespread disruption to passenger movement.
The policy, introduced by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, had only recently been implemented across the country’s airports. However, the rollout quickly caused serious operational problems.
Major congestion was reported at Murtala Muhammed International Airport and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, where passengers reportedly struggled to complete required digital payment procedures before accessing airport services.
The resulting delays led to long queues, confusion, and several travelers missing their scheduled flights.
Authorities attempted to address the problem by increasing registration points and deploying additional staff to assist passengers. Despite these efforts, the situation failed to improve significantly.
Concerned by the disruptions, President Tinubu directed that the policy be suspended with immediate effect.
Confirming the development, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, said the President intervened after receiving reports that many Nigerians were unable to board their flights due to the implementation of the cashless system.
The government is expected to review the policy before deciding whether to reintroduce it in a more efficient and passenger-friendly format.
More details are expected to emerge as authorities assess the impact of the short-lived initiative.
