Fresh Chaos in Ibadan: Sunday Igboho Accused of Shutting Down Real Estate Sites
Fresh controversy has erupted in Ibadan after Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, was accused of disrupting operations at several real estate construction sites in the city.
According to reports, Igboho allegedly arrived at some construction locations in Ibadan with a convoy of more than 15 vehicles accompanied by supporters, where work activities were reportedly halted.
Eyewitnesses claimed that staff members fled the premises as tensions rose during the confrontation.
The situation has sparked wider debate after Igboho allegedly claimed he had the backing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, a statement that has raised serious questions among business leaders and residents.
Some observers say invoking the monarch’s name could damage the reputation of the traditional institution if the claims are not clarified.
The development comes shortly after Igboho returned to Nigeria following years of legal and political battles connected to the 2021 security raid on his residence.
However, the real estate firm involved in the latest incident has reportedly hired the law firm founded by Afe Babalola to pursue legal action.
The company is also said to have submitted petitions to the Nigeria Police Force, the Seyi Makinde administration in Oyo State, and other government authorities demanding urgent intervention.
Business leaders warn that such disruptions could scare investors away from Ibadan’s growing real estate sector.
As petitions mount and legal action begins, many residents are now waiting to see whether authorities will intervene to prevent further tensions in the ancient city.
