A dramatic twist unfolded in Auchi, Edo State, when suspected kidnappers were arrested after bringing a sick child to the same hospital where a doctor they had previously abducted worked.

According to the Edo State Police Command, the suspects were linked to the kidnapping of a medical doctor and the killing of his younger brother earlier in 2026.

The victims were abducted on January 2 while returning home to their residence in Auchi. During the ordeal, the kidnappers demanded a ransom reportedly running into tens of millions of naira. While the doctor was later released after payment, his younger brother was tragically killed while in captivity. �

Weeks after the doctor regained freedom and resumed work at a hospital in Auchi, the suspects reportedly arrived at the facility seeking medical treatment for a sick child.

The doctor allegedly recognised them as members of the gang responsible for his abduction and quietly alerted security operatives.

Police officers subsequently moved in and arrested the suspects at the hospital premises. �
