Eucharia Anunobi Says She Was the Sole Provider in Her Marriage
“My Husband Never Brought One Naira” — Nollywood Star Speaks on Failed Marriage
Veteran Nollywood actress Eucharia Anunobi has opened up about the difficult realities of her former marriage, revealing that she carried most of the financial responsibilities during the relationship.
The actress made the revelation while speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, where she reflected on the struggles she experienced during her marriage to her ex-husband Charles Ekwu.
According to Anunobi, she was responsible for paying the rent and handling most of the household expenses throughout their marriage.
“I was the one paying the rent, I was the one doing everything. Charles never brought one naira,” she said during the interview.
The Nollywood star also revealed that her parents had earlier warned her about the relationship, but she chose to ignore their advice because she believed the marriage would eventually work out.
Anunobi and Charles Ekwu got married in 2000, but the union ended in divorce after about six years.
The actress also spoke about the tragic death of her only son, Raymond Ekwu, who passed away in 2017 after battling complications related to Sickle Cell Disease.
Reflecting on the painful experience, Anunobi said the loss of her son remains one of the most difficult moments of her life.
Her revelations have since sparked discussions online about marriage, financial responsibilities between couples, and the emotional challenges people face after divorce.
