“I Dey Kampe!” — Obasanjo Blasts Rumour Peddlers Over Fake Death Letter

Obasanjo Fires Back at Death Rumours: “God Will Deal With You!”

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has strongly condemned individuals circulating a fake letter claiming he had announced his own death.
The elder statesman reacted during a colloquium held in Abeokuta to mark his 89th birthday, where he delivered a speech titled “Burden and Blessing of Leadership: Reflections from Global Africa to the World.”
Speaking at the event, Obasanjo dismissed the viral claim as the handiwork of “never-do-well” individuals spreading misinformation online.
According to him, those hoping for his death are only wasting their time because he remains strong and healthy.
“They publish and circulate a fake paper credited to me that I am writing, giving notice of my death,” Obasanjo said.
He insisted that his life remains in God’s hands and that his continued existence at the age of 89 is not a mistake.
“That is their wish and surely not God’s wish for me,” he added.
The former president emphasized that God still has more assignments for him on earth and promised that those wishing otherwise would face divine consequences.
“I dey kampe as usual,” he concluded, using a popular Nigerian phrase meaning he is still strong and standing firm.
The comments quickly sparked reactions across social media, where many Nigerians expressed support for the former leader while criticizing the spread of false information.
