A Nigerian legal practitioner has issued a blunt warning to men: ignoring a partner’s instruction to stop during intimacy could land you in prison.
Dammy Esquire shared the caution via her X (formerly Twitter) account, stressing that consent is not a one-off approval but a continuous process that must exist throughout any sexual encounter.
According to the lawyer, once a partner clearly says “stop,” the other party is legally and morally required to halt immediately. Continuing after consent has been withdrawn, she explained, may amount to rape under the law — even if the encounter began as consensual.
