Nigerian footballer Olanrewaju Kayode has filed for divorce from his wife, Ezinne Dora Kayode, while also demanding ₦1 billion in damages from UK-based pastor Tobi Adegboyega over allegations that the clergyman had an affair with his wife.
The Super Eagles striker made the claims in a divorce petition filed in court, where he accused the pastor of adultery and of interfering in his marriage.
According to reports, Kayode alleged that his wife maintained an inappropriate relationship with Adegboyega, the leader of Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church (commonly known as SPAC Nation), a church based in the United Kingdom.
In the petition, the footballer requested the dissolution of his marriage and demanded ₦1 billion in damages from the pastor for what he described as emotional distress and the alleged destruction of his marital union.
The case drew significant public attention after reports also surfaced about a paternity dispute involving the couple’s children. Some media outlets claimed DNA test results questioned the footballer’s biological relationship with the children.
However, Ezinne Dora Kayode strongly denied the allegations. She insisted the claims about adultery and paternity were false and misleading, adding that she was prepared to undergo official DNA testing to resolve the matter.
The dispute has since escalated into a legal battle, with both sides presenting accusations and counter-claims.
Kayode, who previously played in the Austrian Bundesliga with Austria Wien and was once signed by Manchester City, has kept a relatively low profile since the controversy erupted.
The legal proceedings are ongoing, and no final court judgment has yet been delivered on the allegations made by either party.
