One door closes, another opens — and Olisa Ndah is determined to prove he still belongs at the top of South African football.
South African club Stellenbosch FC are reportedly considering a move for Nigerian defender Olisa Ndah, who is currently on trial with the Cape Winelands side after his departure from Orlando Pirates.
The 28-year-old centre-back, once regarded as one of the most solid defenders in the South African Premier Division, is training with Stellenbosch in hopes of earning a contract under head coach Gavin Hunt and his technical team.
According to DAILY POST, Ndah will be offered a deal if he can impress during his trial period — a chance the experienced defender is unlikely to let slip through his fingers.
From Pirates Regular to Free Agent
Ndah's time at Orlando Pirates didn't end the way he would have hoped. After joining the Buccaneers from Akwa United in August 2021, the Nigerian quickly established himself as a key figure in the backline, earning praise for his composure, aerial dominance, and defensive awareness.
But football is unforgiving. Ndah eventually fell down the pecking order at Pirates, leading him to request the cancellation of his contract — a bold but necessary move for a player who still believes he has more to offer at the highest level.
Now, with Stellenbosch watching closely, Ndah has a chance to reignite his career and prove that his best years aren't behind him.
A Fresh Start Awaits?
For Stellenbosch, bringing in a defender of Ndah's pedigree could be a smart addition. The club has been building steadily in recent seasons, and adding an experienced, battle-tested centre-back who knows the league inside-out could strengthen their defensive solidity.
For Ndah, it's about reclaiming his place among South Africa's elite defenders — and keeping the door open for future Super Eagles call-ups.
💬 Can Olisa Ndah revive his career at Stellenbosch, or has his time at the top level passed? Should Nigerian defenders be looking beyond South Africa for opportunities? Drop your thoughts! 🇳🇬⚽👇
