When the President and the FCT Minister sit down to talk, things get serious — and apparently, a little tense.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pulled back the curtain on a crucial conversation he had with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike — one that has reshaped how Abuja is being developed, and one that came with a warning Wike probably didn't forget.
Speaking recently, Tinubu revealed how Wike boldly approached him with a proposal to remove the FCT from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) — a centralized revenue system that had been tying the hands of the FCT Administration when it came to funding urgent infrastructure projects.
"He came to me with the idea that taking the FCT out of the TSA would allow faster execution of critical projects, and I agreed," Tinubu explained.
The result? Visible progress. Roads getting paved. Public facilities rising. Urban development moving at a pace Abuja residents haven't seen in years.
But here's where it gets interesting: despite Wike being a card-carrying member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tinubu made it clear that good ideas transcend party lines. If the policy works, politics takes a back seat.
Still, the President wasn't shy about reminding Wike who's boss. In a lighter — but pointed — moment, Tinubu recounted jokingly warning Wike that he would take strict action if policies didn't align with government goals.
Translation? Deliver results, or you're out.
It's the kind of accountability talk that shows this isn't just politics as usual — it's governance with teeth.
💬 Is this the kind of leadership Nigeria needs — collaboration across party lines with consequences for failure? Or should Tinubu have picked someone from his own party for FCT Minister? Drop your thoughts below! 👇🔥
