Anambra Govt Approves ₦121m Container Barracks for Security Personnel Ahead of Soludo’s Swearing-In

₦121m Approved for Temporary Security Housing in Anambra

The Anambra State Executive Council has approved the release of over ₦121 million for the installation of container units that will serve as temporary accommodation for security personnel across the state.
According to the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the decision was reached during the council’s second meeting of 2026 held at the Light House Government House in Awka.
The project involves the supply and installation of ten 40-foot containers at strategic locations to strengthen operational logistics for security agencies.
The contract for the project was awarded to Achufusi Ventures as part of efforts by the administration of Chukwuma Charles Soludo to reinforce security infrastructure in the state.
Meanwhile, the council also unveiled three major events lined up for the second-term swearing-in ceremony of Governor Soludo and his deputy Onyekachukwu Ibezim.
According to the government, the inauguration activities will begin with an interdenominational church service on March 15, followed by the official swearing-in ceremony on March 17, and will conclude with a thanksgiving service on March 22.
Beyond security measures, the council also approved several infrastructure projects across the state, including road works, stadium upgrades, and asphalt surfacing projects around key government facilities.
Another key decision taken during the meeting was the restriction of the refurbished Alex Ekwueme Square strictly for government activities.
Authorities announced that private events previously held at the square would now be redirected to the Awka Township Stadium’s multipurpose arena.
Officials say the approvals reflect the government’s commitment to improving security, strengthening infrastructure, and preparing the state for another phase of development as the Soludo administration begins a new term.
