Shockwaves have rippled across Ondo State after the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) turned into a scene of chaos, bloodshed, and panic.
What was meant to be a routine stakeholders’ meeting ahead of the party’s ward congress reportedly spiraled into violence when suspected thugs armed with machetes and crude weapons stormed the venue in Akure.
Eyewitnesses described members running for safety as attackers allegedly assaulted party leaders and shouted threats over alleged internal disputes.
The state APC chairman, Engineer Ade Adetimehin, recounted being beaten, dragged across the floor, and stripped of personal belongings during the mayhem.
Several other party heavyweights were reportedly injured and rushed to hospital, while security operatives later moved in to restore order.
The Ondo State Government has denied any link to the attack, dismissing allegations of political sponsorship as “misleading.”
With tensions already high ahead of party congresses, the explosive incident is fueling debate online — raising one burning question:
Is this internal party warfare… or a deeper political battle playing out in public?
